Home Sports Rockets eliminate Bobcats, Polar Bears Rockets eliminate Bobcats, Polar BearsMarch 3, 2023Sports The Munising Baptist Bobcats and the Grand Marais Polar Bears were both ousted from the Northern Lights League Tournament on Friday, Feb. 24 by the Paradise Rockets. After defeating Beaver Island 43-31 in the play-in game, Grand Marais stumbled against the senior-led Rockets, dropping the contest 59-28. Paradise then went on to face the Munising Baptist Bobcats in the next round. Benefiting from the bye, Munising was well rested for their contest against the Rockets, but late buckets from Paradise gave them the 49-47 victory. Munising Baptist’s Ryan Swift was the only senior for either Alger County team, scoring 31 in his final game as a Bobcat. Grand Marais, Paradise and Munising Baptist all are too small to be in the MHSAA and will not be participating in next week’s District tournaments. Paradise lost to eventual tournament champion Maplewood Baptist in the semifinals.
