Golf season gets underway

Munising’s golf season has officially started with two meets this past week.

Both boys and girls squads competed in a dual meet with Manistique to start the season on Monday, May 8. The host Emeralds were able to come out on top of both matches with a 225-249 score in the girls contest, while Manistique was victorious thanks to the fifth-best golfer after the two teams tied at 172 on the boys side.

No team scores were available for Wednesday’s invitational hosted by Big Bay de Noc, but Munising’s Carter Deatsman finished second individually with a score of 76. He also won the long drive contest. Jailen Hancock took the long putt award on the girls side.

Munising will have its only home meet of the year next Tuesday, May 16 at 10 a.m. at Pictured Rocks Golf Course.
