The Munising Beacon moves to print this June

Munising and Alger County Neighbors, It is time to take a giant step forward with The Munising Beacon. With one last push of support, you can help make a difference for our community and bring a printed newspaper back to Munising. News deserts are popping up all over our country. Together, we can bring one desert back to full bloom.

The Munising community has asked us to take this step, sometimes even adamantly, and we hear you. When we do this, know that The Munising Beacon will be the first Michigan-based, local community news source to make the jump from online-only coverage to a printed publication. Doing so, and as a result, reaching as many people as possible with quality hyper-local news, has been our goal since our founding.

In many ways, this is happening at record speed. The Beacon will hit its one-year anniversary with the May 12th edition, and less than six months since joining the CherryRoad Media family of newspapers. To overcome the logistics of providing a print product on top of compelling, accurate reporting not available through any other publication, demonstrates clearly that The Munising Beacon is the local news source for Alger County, today and for the future.

How do we make this happen? We are asking the community for 1,000 print subscriber commitments. That helps the financial side of this venture add up. Newspapers can’t survive without subscribers. With the dedicated people of Munising and Alger County, we’re excited to meet this goal quickly. Our objective is to get there by June 1st, so we can start printing the paper as the summer season starts to kick in.

How do you commit to a print subscription?

Please, just make your commitment to help support community journalism. We have an opportunity to buck the trend and bring a local, printed news source back to our community. Together, we can make it happen.

Thank you for your anticipated support.
