Hill at MSPL Saturday
Local State Representative Jenn Hill will be hosting a coffee and conversation hour at the Munising School Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10-11 a.m.. This is the last scheduled coffee hour locally for summer of 2023 in the area.
MMH Women’s Health Fair Saturday The annual Women’s Health Fair returns to Munising Memorial Hospital Saturday, Oct. 21 from 8 a.m.-noon. The event will showcase different aspects of health for women and free screening is available for those that fast the night before. The event is free for all that attend.
Tai Chi continues in Trenary The weekly Tai Chi classes offered at the Trenary Community Center have restarted, a now annual tradition during the fall months. Anyone over 12 is welcome to attend the weekly classes, which run on Tuesdays at 1 p.m..
Dream Bean Machine to continue The Grand Marais coffee truck Dream Bean Machine will stay open for the winter. Starting as a seasonal business, the Dream Bean Machine is one of the few options open in the morning in the area.
Bergman chairs new GOP financial task force Local U.S. Representative Jack Bergman will chair a new Republican task force about economic issues. The Budget Committee Oversight Task Force is to ensure responsible federal spending, specifically targeting spending issues with the Biden administration. Michigan Rep. Lisa McClain is also on the task force.
Huronton discovered in Lake Superior The Huronton, a steel freighter that sank in 1923, was recently discovered by the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society. The freighter sunk after colliding with another ship, but all crew members were rescued by the other ship in the collision. The Huronton fell into a hole in the lakebed floor, over 800 feet down, when most of the surrounding areas were only 300 feet deep, but was found with sonar technology
