Jamie Lippens is starting a new class in Line Dancing on January 30, 2024.
A veteran of dance and choreography, Ms. Lippens is no stranger to teaching others how to get their moves on. In the past, she’s helped everyone from cheerleaders to even the shyest of grooms to have the right moves at the right time.
Why line dancing? Because it helps people to find a way to step back out into the world, doing something fun with others.
“Everyone needs that sparkle back…because people get comfortable staying home,” Jamie said. With line dancing, you can just show up and dance.
It’s not hard to learn. She’s starting off with easy dances, using modified moves to help dancers become comfortable with the idea of dancing. As they become more confident, she’ll be adding in those special moves and kicks which makes line dancing so much fun to watch… and do.
The best part? Everyone can do it. Even someone who’s a bit rusty when it comes to dancing, or feels like they have two left feet can learn. “I’ve never met someone who can’t do this,” she said when asked. Nor do you have to love country music to dance. In fact, quite a few songs from other genres can be used for line dancing.
The next session costs $60 and includes four classes, with at least 2 new dances being taught in each class. The class will be meeting on Tuesday nights from 5:30 – 6:30 over at the Parks and Rec building on January 30, February 13, 20, and 27th.
