Flipping Success: Munising Rotary Club’s Pancake Breakfast Fuels Excitement for Natural Resources Class

Munising, MI – Last Saturday, the Munising Rotary Club hosted a successful Pancake Breakfast at the Munising Middle and High School, drawing a diverse crowd of students, parents, community members and even visitors in town for the Michigan Ice Fest. The breakfast featured a spread of pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice, coffee, and milk, with a suggested donation of $10.

Proceeds from the event will support Munising High School’s Natural Resource class, funding water quality studies and environmental experiments using Vernier probes and software. Last year’s success with releasing Salmon into local streams has inspired the Rotary Club to help further enhance the program by measuring water and soil quality.

Phil Hansen of the Munising Rotary Club shared additional exciting prospects for the Natural Resource class: “Additionally, if we can, we would like to help drop some fish cribs into Lake Superior, in front of the School. They have an underwater robot that can go down and monitor the fish cribs remotely. “

“Last year’s fundraiser was wildly successful!” continued Hansen, highlighting the club’s impactful fundraising history, supporting programs like Robotics and contributing to new uniforms and instrument repairs for the band.

“In the Fall, we planted a 30 tree orchard behind the hoop house and all that fruit they grow will be served here in the Cafeteria.” Hansen explained “This is a great time to be in Natural Resources class.”

The Munising Rotary Club, founded in 1926, meets every Tuesday at noon for lunch, embodying the Rotary Club International’s commitment to creating lasting change through community unity and action. As Munising continues to thrive in supporting local initiatives, events like the Pancake Breakfast showcase the community’s spirit and collaboration, making it an exciting time for the Natural Resources class and the Munising Rotary Club.
