Cougars slump in 2nd half

Superior Central’s boys basketball game at Powers North Central on Dec. 9 didn’t start off all that badly. The Cougars faded in the second half, though, and fell to the Jets 47-27.

The Cougars led the game 6-5 after the first quarter and were down just 16-11 at the half. North Central found its offense in the final two frames, hower, and Superior Central was unable to keep up.

“We felt we had a good game plan,” Superior Central head coach Adam Ely said. “Second game in a row for us with shooting woes. We only shot 30 percent, so that with 22 turnovers isn’t going to win you a game. As a team we have all been sick as well, and we are hoping to get everyone healthy over break.”

Leading the Cougars offense with nine points each were Ryder Kroupa and Blake Tanner. Zander Bigger and Drew Begovac scored four points apiece.

Superior Central (0-3 overall) played at Carney- Nadeau on Monday. They’ll return to Carney on Dec. 27 and 28 for a holiday tournament.
