Key injury too much for SC girls to overcome

The injury bug that seemingly plagued the Superior Central girls basketball team last season unfortunately stuck again. The Cougars, playing without the injured Sammy Johnson, fell 41-22 at home last Friday to Bark River- Harris.

“Sammy broke her foot again and is out for the year, and this was our first game without her,” head coach Skip Rutter said. “Turnovers plagued us the whole evening, and our offense was very stagnant.”

The Cougars faced a big hole early on, falling behind 15-2 after one quarter. That deficit was 28-8 and 31-12 after the other quarter breaks.

Addi Frusti led the team with 11 points, and Marissa Strohm added six. Peyton Adams scored three points, and Aubri Kroupa netted two.

SC (8-8 overall) was at Munising on Thursday, plays at Carney-Nadeau on Monday and will return home to play Norway onTuesday.
