The Munising Township Commission voted to approve the new five-year recreation plan for the municipality at the township’s regular meeting on Monday, November 6. This was after a public hearing and a month of public review of the plan.
The nonprofit Friends of Valley Spur is asking for the public’s help in securing the future of their trail system. Their “Groomer Capital Campaign” fundraiser, which began last month, hopes to raise $225,000 for a new all-season trail groomer that would replace the aging equipment currently in service.

A woman facing an attempted murder charge in 11th Circuit Court has been charged with similar crimes in Marquette County. Julie Boxley, 52 of Ishpeming, was charged with one count of homicide in the first degree and one count of arson in the first degree.
Construction crews work on the parking lot near the Rock River Township Hall and Fire Station on Thurs. Nov. 2. The township used its remaining American Rescue Plan Act funds to pave the parking lot between the township hall and fire hall and to regrade the area near on the western side of the fire hall. Further paving may happen as a potential expansion is being discussed between multiple government entities about expanding the fire hall to accommodate extra indoor ambulance parking.
