District tickets must be bought online The MHSAA girls district final tonight at Superior Central and the boys district tournament at Big Bay de Noc next week require the purchase of tickets through the MHSAA’s Go Fan ticket system. Tickets will not be available at the door. Links are available on the Munising Beacon and Munising Public Schools Facebook pages.

Fentanyl in the EUP

Fentanyl, a potent opioid that is 80 to 100 times stronger than morphine and 50 times stronger than heroin, is becoming a serious public health issue across the Eastern Upper Peninsula (EUP). Public health and safety staff are reporting that more fentanyl is being detected across the area, and correspondingly, there are more reports of accidental fentanyl overdoses among EUP residents, according to the LMAS District Health Department.

No dogs, no problem

Grand Marais came together in a flash after the UP 200 was canceled, putting on a special event to help preserve the weekend from both an economic and a cultural experience. Over 1,000 people came from all parts of the Eastern Upper Peninsula to participate in various events to take place of the largest sled dog race in the Lower 48.
