After an award-winning idea, a Burt Township teacher is finding a way to involve the Grand Marais community in the 4-6 grade classroom. Amy Ross, the 4-6 grade teacher at Burt Township Schools, is asking for some of the area’s most favorite recipes.

ACD Tree & Shrub Pickup Saturday The Alger Conservation District annual tree and shrub sale pick up will happen at Alger Centennial Arena from 9 a.m.-noon and from 2-4 p.m. at Superior Hardware in Grand Marais.

Alger County government is going through a major shakeup as the county clerk, the county administrator and the chair of the county commission are all expected to be out of government by June 1. “It’s going to be a hard situation with a lot of years of experience going out the door,” Alger County Deputy Clerk Joel VandeVelde said.
