Volleyball teams prep for districts

The high school volleyball season is coming to an end, with the MHSAA District tournament in sight for most local teams. Munising and Superior Central will both contend for the District 99 title, as the two schools will compete with four other familiar foes from October 30 through November 3 in Eben Junction to start what each school hopes is a long run in the MHSAA championship bracket.

Maplewood wins NLL title

The Northern Lights League volleyball tournament took place at Hannahville on Saturday, October 21st. The day started at 9 a.m. with Munising Baptist taking on Ojibwe Charter and Hannahville vs. Paradise. Ojibwe Charter and Hannahville took the wins advancing them to the next round. Up next, Ojibwe Charter and Hannaville had no time to waste, quickly moving right into back to back games. Ojibwe Charter could not secure their second match of the day vs. Big Bay de Noc and lost in three, allowing the Black Bears to advance. Hannahville, taking on Beaver Island, put up a valiant fight but ultimately lost to Beaver Island, allowing the islanders to advance to the semi-finals.
