After a heartbreaking loss in the 2022 Northern Lights League tournament final, Big Bay de Noc Head Coach Alex Ranguette promised himself that they would never lose like that again. “We had flashbacks to last year losing, losing to Ojibwe in a shootout,” he said.

The Mustangs defeated the Jets 3-0 in sets of 25-23, 25-13, and 25-9. Dayne Behning had seven kills. Carissa Deatsman had 19 assists and five aces, leading the Mustangs in those categories. North Central Sam Burton had 31 digs in an impressive performance.

The Munising Mustangs tennis team was able to peak at the right time, as a long season ended with a strong third-place finish at the MHSAA U.P. Division 2 finals.

The Superior Central Cougars fell just short of defending their home gym against the North Dickinson Nordics on Thursday, Sept. 28, falling 3-2 (18-25, 16-25, 25-18, 27-25, 15-6).
