A word of warning to fans of the Munising boys basketball team: If you’re thinking about making a run to the concession stand during a game this season, plan carefully. If you’re not in your seat when the Mustangs are on the floor, even for a minute, you might miss the moment when everything changes.

The Munising High School boys basketball team has been making a habit out of stacking successful seasons on top of successful seasons. The Mustangs reached historic heights by winning the state championship in 2022-23, and they followed it up with another strong campaign last winter.

Superior Central High School had been waiting a long time for their boys basketball team to have a season like it did last year. The Cougars had a breakthrough year last winter, going 16-8 overall and by all accounts playing some pretty good ball.

The Munising cross country team gathered recently for its annual end-of-season banquet, a night dedicated to celebrating the athletes’ hard work, dedication and accomplishments throughout the season. The event, attended by athletes, families and coaches, highlighted individual and team achievements while honoring the seniors who have led the program with passion and determination.

After picking up a solid win over Rapid River in their Division 4 district opener just two days earlier, the Superior Central volleyball team was hoping for more of the same against Munising on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
