The Munising Mustangs girls tennis program had a tough go of things at the GNC tennis championships in Marquette, finishing last of the seven teams at the competition. “It was tough sledding for us at GNCs as we were the smallest school there,” said Munising Coach Rich Prunick, Jr.
After sweeping rival Michigan Tech in Houghton earlier this week, the Northern Michigan University Volleyball team broke out the brooms on a UP-opponent once again, sweeping the Lake Superior State University Lakers in straight sets 25-19, 25-21, 29-27.
Munising, Brimley rescheduled The varsity football game between the Munising Mustangs and Brimley Bays was rescheduled to yesterday, Oct. 5. The results of that game came after the deadlines of this week’s Munising Beacon. The junior varsity game was canceled.
The Munising Mustangs football team led for the majority of their contest with the Indian River-Inland Lakes Bulldogs on Friday, Sept. 22, but a late score and successful two-point conversion led the visitors to the 26-24 victory.
In the first ever meeting between the two teams, Bay College Volleyball (9-9, 3-3 MCCAA) got their record back to the .500 mark in both their overall and conference record by sweeping a hard-fought match against the Montcalm Community College Centurions (6-7, 2-3 MCCAA). The Norse won by scores of 26-24, 26-24, and 25-18.
