Munising Baptist and Mackinac Island put their boys basketball teams through a tough twoday travel schedule.

It’s an exciting week in Alger County. Michigan Ice Fest takes center stage, drawing climbers and adventurers to Munising’s frozen landscapes. Meanwhile, the UP200, Midnight Run and Jack Pine 30 bring thrilling sled dog action to the area. Valentine’s celebrations add to the fun, including Sip, Swirl & Savor Wine Tasting with Sage Creek Winery and multiple live music events, like performances by The Make-Believe Spurs, Bayou Chocolat Cajun Band and Spun.

After muddling through the opening quarter, the Munising girls basketball team got back on track. Playing at Newberry on Jan. 30, the Mustangs overcame an early hole to pick up a 61-38 non-conference win.
