The Munising Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market opened up on Monday, May 22, with a number of locals and tourists sampling the fare.
“We’re excited to offer locals things that are grown and produced locally, and providing an opportunity for locals to present their offerings as well,” Market Director Hilary Ludecke said.
About 15 vendors were available for the first week, but Ludecke said that more than 20 have signed up for a spot at the market. It is not required for vendors to attend every week, but it is encouraged.
The market is currently going through permitting so it can accept a various amount of assistance programs from SNAP and EBT to Prescription Health programming, which would allow a person to receive discounted fresh fruits and vegetables if it would have a direct impact on their overall health.
