Kiwanis brings back color tour

The Kiwanis of Alger County restarted one of its annual traditions on Monday, Oct. 2, by taking two busses of residents at MediLodge of Munising on a trip to Grand Marais and back to see the fall color change.

“It was just the right kind of day,” said Kiwanis member Barry Hoover. “The weather was perfect, Al Tran and MediLodge were great. But what really mattered was seeing the light in their eyes as a lot of people don’t get the opportunity to get out and see the colors often.”

Once a regular activity for residents, the color tours were canceled during the pandemic. According to MediLodge Activities Director Lisa Walker, the trip was a great opportunity to see the beauty of the season.

“This was a pretty easy event to organize. It was a lot like getting back on a bike and having fun,” she said.

Kiwanis also plans on doing this for Christmas light decorations in December. The Kiwanis will vote on their annual lights award at the same time.
