In the darkest time of year we long for the Light. For many, darkness makes it hard to drive, so we have moved our Saturday worship service to 330 p.m. (until the spring time change) so the Light of Christ can be shared in worship.
Darkness comes to us with news of violence and tragedy around the world. We look forward to the Light breaking into the world to bring us peace and healing. We pray for those whose lives are forever changed because of the violence others have perpetrated against them, hoping the Light of Christ will shine brightly upon them.
Darkness comes to us with the grief over losses of all kinds: loss of loved ones, loss of employment, loss of security; loss of relationships. We open Eden’s Free Story on December 21st from 12-3 p.m. and 5-6 p.m., hoping to alleviate financial burdens. We attend the Community Blue Christmas Service at United Methodist Church on December 21st at 6 p.m., praying for the Light to shine upon all who grieve, bringing healing to all with broken hearts.
On Christmas Eve, at both 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. services, we hear these words “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness- on them light has shined,” and, “The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” The promise that there is Light even when we can’t see carries us through to brighter days.
The Light of Life, Jesus Christ, brings life to all things. This Light within us that spreads into the world when shine our light before others. This Light breaks into a weary world, causing rejoicing. In the silence and stillness, it moves us to sing of the one who shines brightest.
Receive this blessing: May the Light of Christ shine so brightly that you have no choice but to rejoice in the presence of Jesus in our world! Amen!
