“The Get Away Drop In Center”, located at 226 West Superior Street in Munising, is a nonprofit organization that is committed to providing an atmosphere of acceptance where individuals feel needed and grow in self-worth, dignity and self-respect through social and recreational activities, peer support, community resources and promoting self-advocacy. Our vision is to welcome people with past or present mental health issues to a safe, supportive environment and break the stigma on mental health in our community.

We are currently preparing for our upcoming ‘First Annual Mental Health Camping Retreat’, being held here in Alger County in August. Our goal with this Sober Retreat is to raise self-awareness while allowing our Members the opportunity to engage in therapeutic outdoor activities to increase their whole health and wellness.

As we strive to fulfill our mission and vision, we rely heavily on the generosity of donors. We believe kindness and generosity from the community will make a significant impact on our efforts by helping us allow our Members to actively participate and engage with other adults living with a mental health diagnosis.
