The winners of the annual Munising DDA Holiday Decorating Contest have been announced. South Bay Outfitters took first place and the $250 prize. Pictured Rocks Real Estate took second and Alger County Agency took third, winning $150 and $100 respectively.

“Thank you to all the businesses that took the time to decorate this year. The downtown looks great,” said DDA Director Kathy Reynolds.

Fill the Fire Trucks food drive Saturday

The annual Fill the Fire Trucks food drive will take place Saturday, Dec. 3 from noon-2 p.m. in the greater Munising area. Volunteer firefighters from the City of Munising, Munising Township and Au Train Township will drive through residential neighborhoods, so residents can hand off non-perishable food items for the local food pantries. Food can also be dropped off at the Munising Fire Hall.

Chatham Christmas Parade Saturday

Multiple holiday events will be held in Chatham this weekend, with a parade, craft show and time with Santa. The craft show will be 1-5 p.m. inside the Rock River Township fire hall while the parade will be at 3 p.m.. The parade route starts at Sion Lutheran Church and ends at the Township Hall, with traffic being redirected down ET and Tunteri Roads.

Santa visits Legion Saturday

Santa Claus is coming to town on Saturday, Dec. 3 from noon-2 p.m. at the American Legion in Munising. The visit with Santa is part of the annual Christmas Party held at the American Legion, however, the bar area will be closed for the day due to the party.

Zyburt to lead MCOLES chair

Marquette County Sheriff Greg Zyburt was elected to his second term as the chair of the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). The commission sets standards for selection, employment, licensing, license revocation and funding law enforcement efforts.

Snowmobile Advisory Workgroup looking for members

The Michigan DNR is seeking interested candidates to serve on the Snowmobile Advisory Workgroup, which assists the Michigan Trails Advisory Council in providing the DNR advice on the creation, development, operation and maintenance of the designated snowmobile trail system.
