An Ohio man has died in a Burt Township snowmobile accident. Below is the press release from Alger County Sheriff’s Office.
On 03-09-23 at approximately 23:30 hrs, a 911 call was received at the Alger County Sheriff’s Office reporting a snowmobile personal injury accident (PIA) on Trail #8 approximately one mile south of H-58 in Burt Twp of Alger County. Alger County Sheriff’s Office, Burt Twp. Rescue 21, Burt Twp. EMS and Burt Twp. Fire Department responded to the scene.
The investigation concluded that Nathan Stearns Hohman, a 52-year-old male from Ohio, was traveling northbound on Trail #8 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the trail. The operator struck a tree adjacent to the trail and was ejected from the snowmobile into the same tree. The victim sustained significant injuries as a result of the accident. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. It was determined that excessive speed was the cause of the accident.
