Bergman shows support for H.R. 1

During a House of Representatives session on March 28, Rep. Jack Bergman (MI-1) voiced his unwavering endorsement for H.R. 1, also known as the Lower Energy Costs Act. Specifically, he expressed his support for the provision that would preserve the established prohibition on drilling in the Great Lakes.

This specific piece of legislation would eliminate restrictions on the production and trade of resources, unlocking our energy potential in the hopes of decreasing costs for American citizens. Bergman said that H.R. 1 represents a much-needed beacon of hope amidst Bergman

the current inflationary environment of the Biden Administration.

“Folks back home in Michigan are yearning for leadership that has been sorely lacking in Washington,” Bergman said addressing the House floor. “H.R. 1 will streamline permitting and open up new markets to export natural gas and repeal billions in inflationary Green New Deal giveaways. H.R. 1 will also protect the land we live on, the water we drink, and the air we breathe. Of great importance to me and my constituents is the provision continuing the longstanding ban on drilling in our Great Lakes. As the Representative for the district with the longest shoreline in the lower 48 states, including three of the five Great Lakes, I will continue to fight to defend and preserve our Great Lakes for future generations.”
