Lindbeck named to County Road Association of Michigan board

Alger County Road Commission Engineer Bob Lindbeck has been named to the County Road Association (CRA) of Michigan Board of Directors. The CRA is a group that works with local road commissions across the state for resources and advocacy and includes all 83 counties in the state.

“It’s an honor to be elected to the Board of Directors for the County Road Association,” Lindbeck said. “I’ve always respected those who put their neck out there to be on the Board of Directors in the past and I’m proud to be in that position now.”

Lindbeck has 26 years of experience in county road commissions, originally working in downstate Wexford County for eight years before coming to Alger County in June 2005. Raised in the U.P. and a Michigan Tech graduate, the job allowed him to come back to the region.

This is Lindbeck’s first time on the CRA Board of Directors. He won a two-person election, which was held to replace the Jim Iwanicki of Marquette County, who retired in January. In Lindbeck’s 18 years with the ACRC, no Alger County representative served on the board.

“It’s certainly a feather in your cap and shows the work you do for the county,” ACRC Chairman Jack Hubbard said.

The CRA board is 16 members large. With the state split between four regions based on geography and civil engineering, Lindbeck is one of four members from the Upper Peninsula to serve on the board. Rob Laitinen of Chippewa County, Doug Mills of Baraga County and Dirk Heckman of Mackinac County are also on the board. Heckman was elected as vice president of the board of directors.
