Lindquist wins prestigious prosecutorial staff award

Kathleen Lindquist has won the Frances A. Smith Prosecutor Staff Achievement Award from the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan (PAAM).

“We could not be prouder of Kathleen and her accomplishments. Over the course of her career Kathleen has become the lifeblood of prosecution in Alger County: simply put, our community would not be the same safe place to live, work and grow without Kathleen’s dedication to law enforcement and her indefatigable efforts to improve the lives of her fellow citizens,” Alger County Prosecutor Rob Steinhoff said.

Lindquist is the longest serving staff member in the prosecutor’s office. She was the only full-time staff member for most of her career with the Alger County Prosecutor’s Office. She works with both 93rd District Court and 11th Circuit Court cases and whatever other cases may arise in the office.

“This award is being presented to you in recognition of your many years of extraordinary service, leadership, and outstanding contributions to the Alger County Prosecutor’s Office and to your community,” PAAM President Tom Weichel said.

An award will be given in person to Lindquist at the Prosecutor Staff Development Conference in downstate Thompsonville on May 1, 2023.

The PAAM is a voluntary association of all 83 Michigan county prosecutors, plus the Attorney General and the U.S. Attorney’s offices in Michigan. It was originally founded in 1928. It is unknown if any former Alger County Staff have won the award. The last Upper Peninsula winner was Delta County District Court Clerk and Delta County Prosecutor’s Office Manager Christine Pepin in 2018.

Lindquist said she was “surprised and humbled” to win the award.
