Alger County Chamber of Commerce has announced that Timber Products, a family-owned business producing a wide range of wood products, has been selected as the 2022 Business of the Year. The announcement was made ahead of the annual dinner, set to take place on May 2 at The Bear Trap Inn.

With its commitment to environmental sustainability and fully integrated manufacturing approach, Timber Products is recognized as one of the largest suppliers of materials to the kitchen/bathroom, furniture, shop fit-out/exhibition, and construction plant industries in the country. Established in 1918, the company operates nine manufacturing plants, an import department, and a national logistics and transportation department.

In 1988, Timber Products expanded its operations with the acquisition of a hardwood veneer and lumber factory from the Cleveland Cliffs Corporation in Munising. Today, the company employs 1,200 people nationwide, including 132 in the local area.

“We specialize in hardwood plywood and wood panels with decorative overlays. From veneer to ultralight MDF to particleboard, we offer an incredible variety of products. If you don’t see exactly what you need, we can custom manufacture certain products,” Timber Products’ website states. “All of our products are responsibly created with the environment in mind. We continually improve processes to reduce waste. We use no-added formaldehyde (NAF) based resins or ultra-low emitting formaldehyde (ULEF) resins to reduce emissions. Our RhinoCoat prefinished panels include an antimicrobial additive that protects the panels from degradation and decay.”

The celebration of Timber Products’ achievements will begin with a social hour at 5 p.m., followed by presentations at 6 p.m., and dinner. The Bear Trap Inn, located at the H-58 and H-15 junction roughly 12 miles east of Munising, will host the event.
