VVA replaces flagpole at Maple Grove Cemetery

The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 237 worked hard to replace the flagpole at Maple Grove Cemetery on Tuesday, July 11-Saturday, July 15.

A major focal point of the veterans’ section of the cemetery, the flagpole was in need of repairs. The new pole replaces a homemade one that had stood tall for decades.

Funding for this flagpole came solely from donations from the community. An initiative led by an Eagle Scout last year, who raised funds for a flagpole in the newly designated veterans’ area. The support resulted in surplus funds, and those funds were used to upgrade the pole in the area traditionally reserved for veterans and home to Memorial Day services.

Although the community had the means to make this project a reality, the labor to erect the flagpole was still required. The VVA Chapter 237, driven by the passion and dedication of Harry Lindquist, stepped up to carry out this vital task. Through their unwavering commitment, the flagpole found its rightful place, soaring high in the sky, honoring veterans past and present.
