Beacon to Print – Physical Papers Next Edition

The Munising Beacon is proud to remind customers that today’s edition, August 25, will be the last digital-only edition of the paper. The first printed edition will be the Friday, September 1 edition.

Copies of the Munising Beacon will be on newsstands and in post office boxes by Friday afternoon, and delivered through mail routes on Saturday.

“This has been a long time coming, but we’re now ready to have a print newspaper again. We have long admired the local reporting, news and sports available only in the Munising Beacon, and are so happy to ensure it stays here where it belongs,” said co-owner Jill Denkins.

To celebrate the start of the paper editions, a small reception will be held at the Munising School Public Library at noon on Sept. 1. The home of Alger County’s digital newspaper archive, the library provides an amazing background for the first print publication and all are welcome to attend.

Digital copies of the Beacon are still available for those choosing to view the paper on smartphones, computers and tablets. A digital subscription will be an option after the September 1 edition. Subscribers will be able to access digital copies through their password and username they submitted when signing up for the Beacon. “We are now able to do what is necessary to reach all people who live, work and love Alger County by better blending technology and traditional media formats,” said editor and co-founder of The Munising Beacon Brice Burge. “It’s another step in the long journey of this company, but this is a milestone for us that makes all the stress worth it.”

Now that a print date is set, those that have already subscribed to The Munising Beacon will be charged for their subscriptions on Wednesday, August 30. This will include credit card and check payments. Subscribers have not been charged for any fees while assembling the Beacon subscriber list.
