A local man has passed away from his injuries after an accident involving a motor vehicle in the evening hours of Saturday, Aug.

19 in Au Train. Another local man has been charged in relation to the death.

Westin Beauchaine was arraigned in 93rd District Court on Monday, Aug. 21 with one count of operating while intoxicated causing death and one count of open container in vehicle. This is according to District Court staff.

Beauchaine was allegedly operating a pickup truck with the deceased man in the bed of the vehicle. The man fell out and then was struck by the vehicle directly behind the truck. No other charges have been filed as of Monday at 5 p.m..

As of deadline of this week’s Munising Beacon, the name of the deceased man has not been released by Michigan State Police and the investigation is still ongoing.
