The Superior Central School Board has appointed Sally Richard to serve a limited term after a vote on Monday, Aug. 21.
The school board used a ranked choice voting between Richard and the other applicants, but four of the five board members in attendance ranked Richard as their first choice. Matt Rondeau selected Jeanne Verbrigghe with his first choice while Nicole Aho was not in attendance.
Richard was previously appointed to the board after a prior resignation in 2020. She finished fifth in a loaded field in the 2022 school board election, with four being elected to the board.
The spot was vacated by Josh Trader, who won an uncontested election for a shorter term on the school board last November. The seat will be up for election again in 2024.
Trader cited personal reasons for his resignation. Trader already serves as the head football coach for the Cougars and is involved in other coaching responsibilities for local wrestling programs.
“I want and need to spend any free time I can at home with my wife and kids, especially since we recently moved and are remodeling a house,” he said.
“Nothing against any current board members or school administrators and no hard feelings. I will continue to coach and invest in the students and the future of the school.”
