The Grand Marais Rock and Mineral show will take place on Sat.-Sun.

Sept. 9-10 in Grand Marais. The show will be held near the community building with other events like the community breakfast happening nearby. Cost is $3 admission for the weekend.

NMU hosts local college
fair

The local college fair for Marquette and Alger Counties will be held at the Northern Center on the campus of Northern Michigan University in Marquette on Wed.

Sept. 13 from 6-7:30 p.m.. The event will have representatives from multiple colleges and military branches available.

Mustang sculpture dedication Saturday

A dedication ceremony will take place at Munising Middle/High School to celebrate the late Frank Castiglione, who designed and fabricated the Mustang head sculpture outside the school. The dedication ceremony is Sat. Sept. 9 and will start at 10 a.m..

MAPS mascot recall petition rejected

The Marquette County Election Commission has rejected a recall petition for being not clear and not factual. The recall against the two board members was based on their decision to retire the Redmen and Redettes moniker from Marquette High School athletics. Many students in Onota Township attend MAPS on school of choice.
