The Alger County Sheriff’s Office has updated the public on the house explosion in Limestone Township on Aug. 24.

Randall Bertram, the 74-year-old owner of the house, has died as a result from the injuries received in the explosion. Bertram was able to walk almost a mile away to contact emergency help and was able to tell them that the explosion happened when he was attempting to light a propane stove.

He was transported to UP Health Systems in Marquette where he passed away from his injuries.

Michigan State Police fire investigators were contacted for further investigation.
