TheWNMU PBS High School Bowl tournament for the 202324 school year. Both Superior Central and Munising will have a longer than usual path to the title by playing in separate playin games to the round of 32.
The single elimination bracket has eight play-in games due to the amount of schools participating in the tournament. Superior Central will play North Central in the second game of the tournament. That game will be filmed on Friday, Oct. 6. Winner of that game will play Manistique in November. The schools found in Superior Central’s cluster of the bracket are primarily smaller schools, including Big Bay de Noc, Holy Name and Watersmeet.
Munising will be opening with Norway on Friday, Oct. 20. Winner faces one of the toughest teams in the tournament in Calumet. The Copper Kings have won the title multiple times in the last five years.
It is unlikely the two teams will meet in the tournament, as Munising and Superior Central are on opposite sides of the bracket. The schools could only face each other in the finals.
This is the 45th season of High School Bowl, which airs on WNMU-TV PBS. Episodes air on Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Mondays at 3 p.m.. Full episodes are also available through the PBS Video app.
