Alger veterans participate with Honor Flight

The U.P. Honor Flight Mission XXII flew to Washington, DC on Wednesday, Sept. 13. Six Alger County veterans were able to make the trip, including Don Mickleson (Navy), Larry Radloff (Army), Bill Henninger (Marines), Leif Benson (Navy), Jim Bosley (Navy) and Tom Bailey (Marines).

The flight is part of the Honor Flight Network, a nonprofit organization with a singular mission: to pay tribute to the brave veterans of America, acknowledging their unwavering dedication and sacrifices. Their primary goal is to facilitate the journey of these heroes to Washington, D.C., where they can pay homage and find solace at their respective memorials. Priority is reserved for our senior veterans, specifically those who served during World War II and the Korean War, as well as those who may be facing terminal illnesses. Vietnam veterans are also welcome to apply. Any applications from veterans who served between 1941 and May 1975 will be accepted, providing those veterans with the opportunity to experience the enduring memorials that stand as testaments to their service, whether they served during wartime or peacetime, on American soil or abroad.
