Rock River Township Library notes

The autumn colors are amazing! I love this season. It means warm soup, hot apple cider, a fire in the wood stove, a good book to snuggle up with and the beginning of hygge season.

Library Walking Club – 8 a.m. Wednesday – Every Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. we meet in the library parking lot and take a nice 40-minute walk. Just as a headsup: if you come to the library at 8 a.m. and no one is there, give it a few minutes, as we may be just a little late. This month we will keep an eye on the weather – if the weather is horrible, we will not meet. No one wants to walk in the cold rain or snow.

First Saturday Crafts – 10 a.m. Sat. Oct. 7 – Finnish Himmeli part 1: grass prep. This is our first First Saturday Craft! I hope you will join us for part one of a two-part class. Please make sure you are bringing an arm full of dry, hollow grass. If you need help sourcing grass, contact Jennifer Wood. No need to sign up, just show up with your grass and a pair of scissors. All ages welcome.

Author Chat – 10 a.m. Sat. Oct. 14 – Our first author chat will be with the local author Corky Gordon. He will be at the library to talk about his first book, “The Hickory Kid”. Gordon will have a few books for sale at the chat on a first-come, first-serve basis, but to make sure you have your own, you can order one on Amazon today!

Book Club – 10 a.m. Sat. Oct. 21 – This month’s book club book is “The Long Weekend” by Gilly Macmillan. All are welcome to attend. No need to have attended previous meetings. We talk about the entire book over pasties and a hot mug of coffee or tea.

The library will be closed on Saturday, October 28, so please plan accordingly.

Munising Book Drop Dates are Oct. 4 and 18. Every month, we receive titles from Munising School Public Library that are on loan to us for several months. Come check out our MSPL bookshelf.

And as always, black and white copies are available for 25 cents. Free Wi-Fi and computer access is also available.

See you at the library!
