Harvest Festival fun at MSU

Rain couldn’t damper the annual 4-H and MSU Extension Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the MSU South Farm in Chatham. The event had over 100 people from dozens of families enjoying some of the fall activities in rural Michigan.

“This morning when I saw all the rain and temps in the 40s I was a little worried about how many people we would have, but I’m glad people came out,” said Tyreen Prunick, 4-H Program Coordinator and organizer of the festival. “It’s been a great community event.”

The annual event saw a host of different family- friendly events, ranging from apple cider making to animal exhibits. The apple sling, a slingshot made to launch the fruit across the northern part of the farm, was used sparingly due to the weather. Thankfully for organizers, enough of the event could be moved indoors across the various buildings.

Numerous 4-H clubs were involved in hosting the event, along with the MSU South farm staff and the Cooking Carberry’s Pizza.
