Marketplace meeting today
The Alger County Commission meets at 4 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 27, at the Alger County Courthouse to possibly pass a Brownfield plan resolution required to continue the Munising Marketplace and Fire Hall project. Without an approval, the project will miss deadlines required for funding.
Rock River Kilns hike Saturday
Michigan State University Extension is hosting a “Forensic Forest Hike” at the Rock River Kilns in Rock River Township on Saturday, Oct. 28, studying the natural and man-made history of the area and how they overlap. Registration is available through the Alger Conservation District.
Pancake Breakfast Sunday
The Munising Moose Lodge will host an all-youcan- eat pancake breakfast from 8:30-noon on Sunday, Oct. 29. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and younger, with proceeds benefitting the Alger Baby Closet.
Community Christmas Chorus begins Sunday
The Alger County Community Christmas Chorus will begin its practicing on Sunday, Oct. 29 from 1-2:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The chorus will prepare for a holiday concert scheduled for December 10 at Mather Auditorium. A children’s chorus will also practice starting at 2:45 p.m. at the same location.
Alger preps for Halloween
Multiple parties and events will take place at Alger County bars and restaurants this Saturday, ranging from Murder Mystery parties to karaoke events. Sober drivers are the safest option for those travelling to parties and events, but Al Tran is also available. Be safe this Halloween.
Munising Trick or Treating hours
According to the Munising City Police Chief John Nelson, Trick or Treat hours are from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31. While there are no other defined times for Trenary, Chatham or Wetmore, multiple Trunk-or-Treat events are scheduled from 4 p.m.-7p.m. as well. Rumor has it the Halloween potatoes will return in Munising!
