NEW BOOK: To Infinity and Beyond by Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Lindsey Nyx Walker. In this alluring book, renowned astrophysicist and best-selling author Neil DeGrasse Tyson teams up with StarTalk senior producer Lindsey Nyx Walker to take readers on an interstellar odyssey, combining science, humor, and sidelong glances at Hollywood’s portrayal of outer space. The journey begins close to home and then surges on to exoplanets, nebulae, and galaxies. The farther we travel, the wilder the questions become as theory collides with common sense. What’s the shape of the universe? What happens when two black holes merge? Did other worlds spring into being at the Big Bang—and can we visit them? Along the way, science greets pop culture as Tyson and Walker cheer on the special-effects geniuses when they get things right and point out the flaws when they don’t. From Sandra Bullock’s bangs in Gravity to Interstellar’s Gargantua, it’s a romp through blockbusters, separating the “sci” from “fi.” For science junkies and fans of the mysterious conundrums that astrophysicists ponder, this illuminating book is a joyous adventure into the furthest reaches of the cosmos.
