Locals Recognized in Photography Competition

The Bonifas Gallery in Escanaba held its reception/opening for their photography competition entitled The U.P. Through My Lens recently. Two of the winners are people you might know.

Both Bill Savage and Kathryn Lund Johnson placed well in this competition. The winners were as follows: 1st place: “Living the Dream” by Bill Savage.

2nd place: “Yooper Talk is an Open Book” by Heather Calouette 3rd place: “A River Runs Through It” by Ben Rzonca

Honorable Mentions went to:

“Wilderness Freedom” by Michael Olson.

“Reverberations in Time”by Kathryn Lund Johnson.

“Ice Framed Lighthouse” by Samantha Buttry

The photo Bill Savage took was a portrait taken of Leigh and Karen Cowen.

If you’re in the area, “The U.P. Through My Lens” is on display now through February 22nd and holds 160 pieces of photography! The gallery is also offering a People’s Choice Award with this exhibit so stop in, take a look at all the works, fill out the little slip and drop it in the jar at the entry of the gallery. At the end of the show, the gallery will select two People’s Choice awards. Each of the winners will receive a 1-year individual membership to the Bonifas Gallery.
