“Your Presence is Requested!” Regular office hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am-2pm. Our March worship on Saturdays is at 330pm on March 2nd and 9th, and switches back to 5pm on March 16th. Sunday worship is at 1030am. All are welcome!
Our Lenten, Holy Week, and Easter schedules are available at www.edenonthebay. org.
What an exciting time in the church year! We journey through Lent in preparation for those last days before the crucifixion, so that we can experience the resurrection again, living in hope that through Christ, God does indeed make all things new.
This can mean many things. Maybe you are just waiting for the new life of true spring that brings life, growth, and color to our world. Maybe you will experience the story of the empty tomb in a new way, and it will stir you to deeper faith. Maybe you will feel the new creation in Christ that you long to be, overcoming some kind of dark suffering that has been wearing you down. The possibilities are endless when God is working within us! And the blessing of resurrection is that it can and does include all that you hope it to be.
This does not mean we will all wake up on Easter Sunday with all our problems solved, our faith renewed, and the world around us full of flowers and rainbows. It does mean that our hope will be renewed. Hope that stirs us to look out into the world and wonder where God is calling is to walk as disciples of Christ, loving God and loving our neighbor just as we want to be loved! Living as disciples, loving all people, can change the world for us and for those we encounter. Live as resurrection people… live in hope!
In a small town, news travels fast, so you may have already heard that I am leaving Eden Lutheran to take a call as Assistant to the Bishop of the Western North Dakota Synod of the ELCA. We will have a time of fellowship following worship on Sunday, March 24th.
As I end my time here, and prepare for the move, I give thanks for all of you! I trust that God is already stirring up the Holy Spirit in the heart of the next minister for Eden, and that in our transitions, Christ will make us a new creation. We are resurrection people, and our faith tells us the God will bring new life after we experience big change.
