In July 2020, VanLandshoot & Sons, Inc. (VSI) received an analysis of their fish from Midwest Laboratories. This extensive analysis showed that the whitefish is loaded with protein, Omega-3, 6, and 9 fatty acids, and is low in calories. A quick, easy way to determine if a food is a good source of protein compared to its caloric value is to add a zero to the grams of protein and determine if that figure is higher than the calories. For instance, 4 ounces of VSI’s whitefish offers 22g of protein in 100 calories. Adding a zero to the protein figure shows that the nutritional value of the fish makes this an excellent source of protein with a low caloric value.
