St. John’s Episcopal Church Celebrates End of Summer Season and Honors Longtime Member

St. John’s Episcopal Church celebrated the end of our summer season last Sunday with an outdoor service at McQusiten Pond Recreational Area in Wetmore. It was a beautiful day!

We have been centering our worship in this Season of Creation on Hope and Action. Jesus has not only called us to center our worship of God on loving him with our whole being and loving our neighbor as ourselves, but as James exhorts us, to put our faith into action. Our planet has not fared as well as God has intended under our ‘dominion’ and it is past time for us to accept this responsibility of faith.

Our worship included a walk of meditation and reflection along the pond boardwalk. After the service we enjoyed a picnic and fellowship, cherishing our time together enjoying some of God’s sumptuous gifts.

We say “Go with God” to our summer biking friends Howard and Sarah Abts of Toledo, OH; and our summer friend Alicia, a CPA from Grand Rapids, MI.

Our Season of Creation worship focus will end on Sunday, September 29 at our 10 a.m. service. We will remember our Matriarch, Eleanor Bell, during the service. She was an active member of St. John’s for more than 60 years. She was active in the Episcopal Church Women, Chair of the United Thank Offering Committee, Administrative Assistant to the Support Team and faithful in attendance. All who remember Eleanor are welcome to attend the service and a fellowship time following.

All are welcome; come as you are.

St. John’s Episcopal Church is located at 121 W. Onota Street (between Elm Av. and Lynn St.)

Services of Holy Eucharist or Morning Prayer are held every Sunday at 10 a.m.
