MSP investigate body at PRNL

The Michigan State Police Negaunee Post is completing a death investigation involving a body that washed ashore from Lake Superior along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore near Miners Beach.

On Nov. 8, troopers responded to Pictured Rocks after hikers reported that a deceased subject’s body had washed ashore. Police were not able to identify the body. Further efforts are being made to make a positive identification. Foul play is not suspected.

MSP was assisted by the Alger County Sheriff’s Office and the National Park Service. Anyone with information is asked to contact the MSP Negaunee Post at 906-475-9922.

Right to Life meeting Nov. 19

Alger County Right to Life is holding an educational meeting from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Munising Baptist Church with a goal of revitalizing its affiliate.

The local Right to Life of Michigan field representative, Christina Velie, is hosting the meeting to encourage and equip pro-life supporters.

Dementia care is focus of program

Dementia Caregiving Series, a three-part online program designed for caregivers of people with dementia, will be held on Dec. 4, 11 and 18, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., via Zoom.

During the three online sessions, participants will learn basic information about dementia and its impact on brain function, how to communicate more effectively with someone who has dementia, recognize stages of dementia, how to better understand and address dementia related behaviors, and learn strategies and benefits of self-care. Each session is an hour long.

There is no charge for this program, but registration is required. To register, visit www. upcap.org or call 2-1-1 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST for assistance. Registration ends on Nov. 24. Participants must have a device with internet connection and email address to attend.
