The sixth annual Market Walk is now under way. Market Walk is a free program open to Tribal Members and all Alger County residents to earn tokens to spend on locally grown produce at the Munising Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market.
Participants are invited to walk at the Munising Tribal Health Center’s Walking Track, located upstairs at 622 W. Superior St. between 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday until May 1 — or until all available tokens have been distributed.
For every mile walked, participants will receive a token worth $1 from the track attendant. Tokens can then be redeemed at the Munising Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market located at Bay Shore Park on Mondays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. from May through October.
Walkers will be limited to 50 tokens each.
The Alger Wellness Coalition, Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and the Munising Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market are partnering in this initiative.
