Please note: Munising School Public Library has two closings this month. Monday, Feb. 17, we will be closed in recognition of the federal holiday, Presidents Day.
Additionally, we will be closed next Friday, Feb. 21, for our scheduled staff-training day. Apologies for any inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding. A well-trained staff is an asset to our community. Thank you for allowing us a day to train them even more on some new features and services that the library offers.
Michigan tax forms have arrived, and we are awaiting our supply of federal forms. In the meantime, you can print any necessary tax forms here in the library right off of irs.gov/forms or michigan.gov/taxes.
Try your hand at writing haiku, and then share your efforts with us to display in the library and on our Facebook page. Find a link to submit online on the MSPL Facebook page via a Google form, or you can email your haiku to the library at mspl@msplonline.org.
There will be a Haiku 101 scrolling PowerPoint presentation in the library on Feb. 20 at 3 p.m., about how you can easily learn this fun Japanese poetic technique. Stop in and follow the self-guided program that will have you producing your own haiku in no time.
Happy Lamb Knitting Club meets this coming Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 5 p.m. Knitters and crocheters of all skill levels are welcome to attend. Come share your tips and tricks, or learn something new.
New book
This week’s book is “The Bones Beneath My Skin” by T.J. Klune. Here is the publisher’s synopsis: In the spring of 1995, Nate Cartwright has lost everything: His parents are dead, his only brother wants nothing to do with him and he has been fired from his job as a journalist in Washington, D.C.
With nothing left to lose, he returns to his family’s summer cabin outside the small mountain town of Roseland, Oregon, to try to find some sense of direction. The cabin should be empty. It is not. Inside is a man named Alex. In addition, with him is an extraordinary 10-year-old girl who calls herself Artemis Darth Vader. However, Artemis is not exactly as she appears.
Soon it becomes clear that Nate must make a choice: Let himself drown in the memories of his past, or fight for a future he never thought possible. Because the girl is special. Moreover, the forces are descending upon them who want nothing more than to control her.
