BETH LOUISE CARL

Munising / Florida – Beth Louise Carl, 65, of Florida, and formerly of Munising, died peacefully and unexpectedly at her home on Friday, February 10, 2023. She was born on September 1, 1957, in Saginaw, Mich., the seventh of eight children to Patrick and Geraldine (Sauve) Carl. Beth’s family moved to the U.P. on August 29, 1970, when her father opened Carl’s Standard gas station. She graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1975.

For the next few years Beth lived in Wisconsin, Wyoming, and Montana before settling back in Munising. Beth worked a number of jobs including Superior Health Haven, Denman’s Hardware, Putvin Drug Store, and then as a cook at the Dogpatch and Cherrywood. Beth was an avid reader and had thousands of fictional novels at her home and enjoyed combing through the dictionary. She was a diehard Packer fan and loved to watch Jeopardy, she would hang up on you if you called while it was on.

Beth was a great cook and baker, the fancier the treats and pies the better. She shared her cooking talents with our community and the many tourists who would visit for over 20 years at the Dogpatch, but she loved to cook for friends and family especially for the annual Thanksgiving feasts at the Corktown. Beth is survived by her daughter – Amanda Bowerman; mother – Gerry Carl; siblings – Jane Steinhoff, Wayne Carl, Sue (Mike) Nettleton, Roy Carl, and Mary (Garry) Tweedale; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father – Pat Carl; brother – Mike Carl; and sister – Nan Peterson. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Beth’s obituary and online guestbook may be viewed and signed at bowermanfuneralhome.net.
