Marilyn T. Cook

Marilyn T. Cook, age 89, of Munising died Sunday evening, Feb. 9, 2025, at the Corinthian Assisted Living Place in Gilbert, Arizona. Marilyn was born on Sept. 7, 1935, in Munising to Henry and Evelyn (Goodreau) Lasak. She graduated from Sacred Heart School and then William G. Mather High School. Marilyn married John “Jack” Cook on Nov. 6, 1954, and together they raised their three daughters.

Marilyn worked at the bakery, the elementary school as a teacher’s aide, Sacred Heart Parish as their secretary and then the Chamber of Commerce. Marilyn and Jack enjoyed spending time with their friends and did a lot as couples with friends. They were married over 45 years when Jack preceded her in death on Easter Sunday, April 23, 2000. Marilyn was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. She was an active and faithful member of Sacred Heart, and she loved her church. Marilyn served as a eucharistic minister, lector, religious education teacher, choir member, funeral luncheon committee worker and a member of many church organizations. She was devoted to the rosary and a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. Marilyn was a faithful servant of the Lord. She enjoyed her grandchildren and spending time visiting them. She loved playing cards with family and friends and traveling.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jodi (Bill) Chaltry of Arizona City, Arizona, Julie (Scott) Fictum of Michicot, Wisconsin, and Theresa (Gary) St. Amour of Munising; grandchildren, Amanda (Kurt) Ronhovde, Rachel (Chris Schultz) Chaltry, Rick (Shandal) St. Amour, Brad (Amanda) St. Amour and Alyssa (Andrew) Dominick; great-grandchildren, Zane Chaltry, Kayden, Bodie, Ramsey, Brayden, Kasey and Aaliyah St. Amour, and Kinsley and Grayson Dominick; brothers, Wayne (Diane) Lasak of Farmington, Illinois, and Vince (Sandra) Lasak of Muskegon, Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jack.

Visitation will be at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Marilyn’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Michael Ocran on Friday, May 23, 2025, at noon at Sacred Heart Church.
