To our fellow Grand Island Township Residents: This letter is to make you aware of our current need to fill our position of Township Clerk. In the event we are unable to fill this position, we will have 45 days to appoint somebody. If the position remains vacant after 45 days, we will no longer have control over the matter.
As a board, we have been in discussion about consolidating with another township or city municipality, contingent upon filling board position(s). Currently, we are interested in consolidating with Munising Township if the Clerk position is unable to be filled.
We would like to invite you to our meeting, Monday, September 25th at 6 p.m. in the Alger Parks and Recreation building conference room.
Clerk Position David Kronk is our current Township Clerk. He will be resigning in December 2023. We are looking to fill this paid position for the remainder of the current term, and again when it comes up for re-election.
Please email grandislandtownship@gmail.com for detailed information and any inquiries.
Dena Ramsey Grand Island Township Supervisor Constitution Day thoughts
I am writing this letter on CONSTITUTION DAY, September 17, 2023. In May of 1787, a group of citizens, including George Washington, James Madison, and Benjamin Franklin, began meeting in Philadelphia to improve the Articles of Confederation. They concluded their work after a long, hot summer, by writing and signing America’s Constitution on September 17, 1787, 236 years ago. (11 years is average for a constitution).
September is also an important month for these reasons: It’s Rosh Hashanah (the Feast of Trumpets) the beginning of the Jewish Fall Holy-days, and ten days later Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) when the High Priest went into the Most Holy Place in the Temple once a year (not without blood) praying for God to cover the sins of Israel for another year. That’s the best Israel had under the Old Covenant. Under the New Covenant, God gave us Jesus, who took the whole world’s sins on the cross so we could take God’s righteousness.
Want to know and understand America’s Constitution? Know what it authorizes the federal government to do (and not do)? Look for the bulletins all over Alger County for the BIBLICAL CITIZENSHIP classes.
For more about BIBLICAL CITIZENSHIP, its history, and its opportunities, you are free to go to its foundation, God’s Word. Our Constitution (including the Bill of Rights) guarantees you the right, and the ability, to do so.
Finally, I recommend the 24/7 Victory Channel, to help you enforce our Constitution, which is based on our Covenants with God. Why? Because we have a defeated but still deceiving adversary, the devil, who is trying his best to destroy the United States of America. And because God is using America to preach the Gospel to the whole world. And because God is Love.
