Memories in Bloom: Munising High School’s Special Mother-Daughter Tea

Mother-Daughter Tea was held on May 12 for the mothers of this year’s Munising High School seniors. The event was hosted by Key Club and was held at Munising’s Middle/High school cafeteria decorated with flowers and a floral banner for pictures. Eight pairs of mothers and daughters attended the event. To make this event special, Key Club provided drinks and food, a game of Who Knows Each Other Best, and speeches from a senior and her mother figure.

During the game of Who Knows Each Other Best, both mothers and daughters were asked questions about one another. Each time they answered correctly the duo won a point. Some of the questions asked were: “What is your mother’s/daughter’s favorite color? What color was your daughter’s prom dress junior year, who was your mother’s first boyfriend, and who was your daughter’s first kiss.” Sabryna Smith said that the game helped her and her mom become even closer and just have a good laugh through the ups and downs. The game consisted of 20 questions and in the end, Lucy Widner and her mom Kat Donnely came out on top as the winners.

During the closing speeches, Julia Prunick spoke to the attending mothers and daughters about how being a daughter is an amazing journey through the ups and downs. She goes on to say that moms have the ability to make everything seem okay. Following her speech, her mother figure Chelsea Prunick continued to describe how each of the seniors are amazing in their own unique ways and that it is an amazing experience being a mother. To close the event Nicole Lasak spoke about how as a mother herself she is grateful to the moms for raising their daughters to be amazing and that she is excited to see them off into the world.
