It was a Heartfelt Homecoming last week at Munising High School, as students celebrated around a Valentine’s theme.
On Monday, Feb. 10, students kicked off winter homecoming by wearing Valentine’s related pajamas.
Tuesday’s pep assembly was highly entertaining. Senior Danny Goss easily won the balloon crunch activity with his Mach speed and his partner Kyler Bond’s ability to take the impact. Tuesday was based on whether a student was taken, single or in a complicated relationship.
The high school homecoming court was revealed, naming the top six most popular seniors along with two representatives from each of the other grades.
Seniors selected were Cadence Schultz and Danny Goss; Axl Richards and Lauren Nelson; and Samantha Cain and Keegan Long. Also on the court were juniors Avery Seymour and Avery Murk, sophomores Blake Lakosky and Natalia St. Amour and freshmen Brynnlee Meyer and Keenan Nesberg.
The winner of Wednesday’s spirit outfit was our timely Mr. Lynch, who dressed as his pregnant wife. Other than the facial hair, he was startlingly realistic with his bouncing belly.
Scout Linsenman and Kai Syers dressed as each other to round out the theme “dress like your current crush.”
“During Valentine’s Day, it was a great combination of dress-up days, athletic events and activities,” Linsenman said. “There was something going on every day this week. We even had a guys’ volleyball game. I got to experience one last packed-fulloffun homecoming week.”
Thursday had students looking their best, and Friday was all about loving our Mustang colors of orange and black.
“It takes a whole bunch of us to plan out these types of events,” Student Council President and Senior Class President Axl Richards said. “The whole Valentine theme idea was Ms. Heribacka’s, but we helped to come up with the daily events for all the games and stuff. Without the help of the staff and everyone involved in Student Council, we wouldn’t have the support to have a fun and festive homecoming.”
The seniors clinched the pep jug at Friday’s raucous assembly. The students played games like trivia with the court couples along with other active couple games. The crowd-favorite games were easily the upperclassmen tug-ofwar and the mattress races.
Cadence Schultz and Daniel Goss were crowned queen and king.
Other winners were selected for the theme days: Monday (pajama day), Lauren Nelson and Mrs. Albright; Tuesday (color day), Alison Niemi; Wednesday (dress like your crush day), Mr. Lynch and Scout Linsenman/Kai Syers; Thursday (dress to impress day), Nate Peterson and Branson Lancour; and Friday (show your love for your school day), Kate Mattson and John Goss.
